The 2023 season of the Korean Women’s Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour will be held on the largest scale ever with a total prize money of 31.1 billion won.
The KLPGA Tour held a board of directors meeting at the Association’s conference room in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 31st and confirmed and announced the 2023 season schedule and prize money. The 2023 season will be held with a total of 32 competitions and a total prize money of 31.1 billion won. The number of competitions also increased by two from last year’s 30. The total prize money also increased by 2.8 billion won from 28.3 billion won, exceeding 30 billion won for the first time in tour history. In particular, the opening of a new tournament worth 1.2 billion won in the second week of August and the third week of October played a big role in increasing the total prize pool.
The tournament with the largest prize money is the Hanwha Classic held in August. The total prize money of the tournament increased from 1.4 billion won last year to 1.667 billion won this year.
There were 14 out of 32 tournaments with total prize money of over 1 billion won, accounting for 43% of the total. There are 9 tournaments with total prize money of 1.2 billion won or more.
The KLPGA Tour 2023 season has already begun with the Hana Financial Group Singapore Women’s Open held in Singapore last December. The first tournament this year is the Lotte Rental Women’s Open, which opens in Jeju Island on April 6. The final game of the season is the SK Shielders/SK Telecom Championship in November.
