There was only one inning that ended in a triple play. SSG Landers veteran pitcher Kim Kwang-hyun was unable to get his game going the way he wanted it to and took the loss.

Kim Kwang-hyun took the mound for the SSG Landers in their home game against the Lotte Giants of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on July 17.

His final line was five innings, six hits (one home run), five walks, four strikeouts, and three runs. It was the first time this season that Kwang-hyun gave up five or more runs in a game.

Kim ran into trouble in the first inning. He walked three straight batters, starting with Ko Seung-min to lead off, then Jeon Jun-woo and Ahn Chi-hong. He got the next batter, Jack Rex, to fly out to left field and then induced a double play to Han Dong-hee.

Kim Kwang-hyun was unable to erase the jitters in the second inning. After a leadoff single by Yoon Dong-hee, he gave up a two-run shot to left to Yoo Kang-nam. It was Kim’s sixth homer of the season.

The crisis was not over. Lotte pressured Kim Kwang-hyun with infield singles by Kim Min-seok and Jeon Jun-woo to put runners on second and third, and attempted a double steal on Ahn Chi-hong’s at-bat. Jeon Jun-woo was tagged out at first base when SSG’s Yoo Soo-jin was caught in the infield, but in the meantime, Kim Min-seok came home from third.

After giving up three runs in the second inning, Kim Kwang-hyun got out of the jam with a strikeout and a groundout after leadoff hitter Ahn Chi-hong singled in the top of the third.토토사이트

The fifth inning was also scoreless, but Kim gave up two walks and a hit to load the bases. Han Dong-hee, who had singled in his previous two at-bats, hit a fly ball to center field to end the inning, but Kwang-hyun’s pitch count ballooned to 97. SSG called on the bullpen to start the sixth inning, with Choi Min-joon taking over the mound.

On the day, Kim threw the most sliders (38), followed by fastballs (25), changeups (23), and curves (11). His fastball topped out at 149 km/h, but he had almost as many balls (42) as strikes (55). It was a disappointing start for Kim Kwang-hyun in terms of content.
