The Pittsburgh Pirates swept a three-game series in Kansas City.

Pittsburgh won the final game of the three-game series against the Kansas City Royals 4-1 on Sunday at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.

Ryan Borucki came on in relief with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth and got the other out, while Thomas Hatch, Colin Holderman and David Bednar each pitched one inning.

Kansas City starter Angel Zerpa took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits, one homer, two walks and three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

Pittsburgh has a day off before traveling to the other side of the state to St. Louis for a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
