The Lotte Giants’ left-handed lion (left-hander + grim reaper) is back.

Lotte Giants foreign pitcher Charlie Barnes (27) announced a revival by performing a scoreless and strikeout show after five starts in the 2023 season. Barnes got off the slump in April by recording two wins with his first quality start of the season.

Lotte won 3-0 in the 4th game of the season against Doosan Bears held at Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan on the 10th. Lotte escaped from a two-game losing streak.

Barnes, who was the starting pitcher for Lotte, recorded his second victory of the season by showing the best pitching of the season. Barnes showed perfect pitching, striking out eight strikeouts against Doosan lineup, which Yang Eui-ji, Yang Seok-hwan, and Kim Jae-hwan were holding on to. Barnes went down the mound after giving up two hits and striking out eight in 6 2/3 innings without giving up a single run.

The Lotte batting line scored 3 points with concentrated batting amidst Barnes’ great performance, and the infield team also spread a good defense and lightened Barnes’ shoulders.

Barnes played the game in a good mood in the beginning of the first inning, putting three Doosan batters neatly out. Barnes turned Doosan first hitter Jeong Su-bin into a flyout, then threw out second batter Rojas and third batter Kim Jae-hwan with a ground ball in front of the first baseman and a strikeout, respectively.

Barnes got out of the run crisis on his own in the top of the second inning and continued his good pitching flow. Barnes walked and hit 4th hitter Yang Eui-ji and 5th hitter Yang Seok-hwan, facing the risk of losing 1st and 2nd base safely, but did not concede by striking out and catching the follow-up hitter with a ground ball.

Barnes got stronger after the conceding crisis. Barnes easily solved the game by striking out Doosan’s key lineup one after another. In the beginning of the 4th inning, Barnes struck out Yang Eui-ji and Yang Seok-hwan in a row to gain momentum. Barnes was replaced by Koo Seung-min in the 7th inning with two outs.

Barnes had the hardest time since his debut in the Korean KBO League in April. In four starts last month, Barnes recorded 1 win, 1 loss, an average ERA of 7.58, and an earned run average of 16, showing disappointing performance. Barnes was often battered by the opposing team’s hitters while his sharp command, which penetrated every corner of the strike zone, did not come to life. Barnes also allowed 8 runs in a game against the Samsung Lions on the 16th, the most since his debut in the KBO League.토토사이트

However, Barnes showed a different pitching in this game. Barnes attacked Doosan batters by throwing a slider, two-seam, and changeup based on a fastball with a maximum velocity of 146 km/h. Barnes struck out eight in 6 2/3 innings.

Lotte batting line also lightened Barnes’ shoulders with concentrated hitting. At the end of the 3rd inning, 8th hitter Yoo Kang-nam and 9th batter hit consecutive hits, and 2nd batter Ko Seung-min doubled to take the lead. At the end of the 4th inning, captain Ahn Chi-hong scored an additional point by hitting a solo shot over the left fence. At the end of the 7th inning, when lead batter Noh Jin-hyeok hit and Park Seung-wook sacrificed a chance to score first out and second base, Yoo Gang-nam hit a double and took a 3-0 lead.

After Barnes, Lotte put in Koo Seung-min and Kim Won-joong to win a clean victory.
