Midfielder Lauren James, 22, who scored three goals and provided three assists to lead England to the quarter-finals of the 2023 FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, has been banned and will miss the quarter-final against Colombia.
Reuters, AP and UPI reported on 11 November that FIFA had handed James a two-match ban.
메이저사이트James tangled with Nigeria defender Michel Alozie in the 42nd minute of the round of 16 match at Brisbane Stadium in Australia on 7 July and stepped on Alozie’s buttocks as he got up.
The referee pulled out a yellow card for James, then did a video assistant referee (VAR) on-field review, which he quickly changed to a red card for an unsportsmanlike conduct foul.
It was a red card for England, who face Colombia on 12 December for a place in the quarter-finals.
James has been at the forefront of England’s attack, scoring three goals and providing three assists in four games from the group stage to the round of 16.
James will have to watch the quarter-final against Colombia from the bench and will not be allowed to take the field even if England progress to the quarter-finals and face the winner of Australia-France.
James will only be able to play in the final or the third or fourth place match.
